"The finest Chryseia to date", says Bruno Prats of the 2024 vintage

On September 10, the Prats and Symington families hosted Portugal’s leading wine writers and critics for the presentation of the Chryseia 2024 Douro DOC, the highly regarded top-flight red wine which they have jointly produced since 2000 in Portugal’s Douro Valley.

The venue was EPUR, the Michelin-starred restaurant of French chef, Vincent Farges, beautifully located in Lisbon’s Chiado district with stunning views over the city’s ancient quarter and Tagus River estuary. The chef prepared a specially curated five-course lunch to marry with the family of Prats & Symington wines poured during the meal: Prazo de Roriz 2023, Post Scriptum 2024, Chryseia 2024 and the Quinta de Roriz 2024 Vintage Port.

Bruno and Florent Prats and Rupert Symington took turns in describing the perfect growing and ripening conditions that culminated in the outstanding Chryseia 2024 Douro DOC. For Chryseia, 2024 was a year of ‘natural perfection’, where the quality of the grapes demanded minimal intervention. The classic rhythm of the growing season allowed the vineyards to express themselves with ‘remarkable clarity.’

Bruno Prats enthused that this is very likely the finest Chryseia to date and Rupert Symington added that the same is true of the Post Scriptum 2024.
